Delta’s 4X a day Philly to Boston service ends on August 18, 2009 and personally I believe it was inevitable from the get go! Funny thing is, even AirTran held onto the route for a longer period of time than “Premier Global Airline”. Haha- I just had to say that!

With AirFrance soon putting the “cork on the wine bottle” on the Philly to Paris route, Delta takes over with a 757. I don’t see that lasting either…

About time Delta rolls back to their domestic ops and moves back to the domestic terminal at Philly. Enough trying to “Premier Global Airline” in Philly, Delta! Philly already has US Airways.

Have a nice clicK life,

This is terrible news. US is charging $520 for one-way fares. That’s $1040 for a round trip. Yet they charge $69 for one-ways to Manchester, NH and Providence, RI where they compete with Southwest. I cannot wait until the day comes that USAirways liquidates and is gone forever.

    Hello Carl,

Thanks for the comment and stopping by.

I sympathize, I do, and while it doesn’t justify anything, I’m sure you are aware that other airlines do charge exorbitant fares in their own respecitve “monopoly” markets. The fact of the matter is- Southwest is responsible for fares going down and the minute they enter a route, fares will go down to match the competition.

Besides, any airline will tell you to Philly to Manchester, NH and/or Providence, RI is a completely different market than Philly to Boston due to the convenience. Any airline will also tell you that you sometimes have to pay extra for convenience. Reasonable extra? That depends on the person who’s buying. For some? Yes! Others? Not necessarily!

I see that you are frustrated, but please keep in mind that US Airways is just still a company, and like any other company they are there to make a profit. Though certain US Airways markets may seem overpriced, I wanted to let you know that US Airways does offer decent fares on majority of their flights. You are probably well aware, that I’m a US Airways supporter, but I can honestly say I’ve found value with US Airways and I am a price sensitive customer. Right now I place loyalty slightly head of price, but I am always on a lookout for deals and bargains and the occasional fare mistake or two.
