Upon checking my blog and emails, I’ve gotten some comments and emails while I’ve been away. Some nice, some spam and some nasty! I’ll sift through all of it once I get back.
I’m currently in Mauritius, having arrived from Cape Town a few nights ago. Today was a very busy day- visit to Casela park and riding through a “Safari” on a Quad! My hands are still a bit startled from all the bumpy terrain, but it has been a fantastic experience. Check out this pic, I was way up high on that thing!

Have a nice clicK life,

mark, nice photo, looking forward to more photos and full report.
i have a question for you about one of your older entries that i hope you don’t mind answering here. it is a little bit old so i am posting the question here in case you don’t check the older entries. anyways, very intrigued by the exercise routine you have embarked on. as a heavier fellow myself, i am looking in that direction. my question is, has your diet changed at all since the start of your program? based on some of the blog posts here, you look like you enjoy a good steak now and then at a fine restaurant. have you had to cut down on that at all?
thanks mark.
KingOrb,
OMG! That looks sooooo fun. Did you have to bravely fight on any animals?
Can you post the details of your tour company? I hate (hate!) traveling without a tour company and organized tours. I hate (hate!) having to plan my own time when traveling. I prefer a tour company that issues shirts, bags, namebadges, or something that lets me know who is on the same tour. Was your tour like that? I’d be mortified is someone thought I was a local.
In Mauritius, we did not use any tour company, but rented a car from AVIS and drove around the island. The only exception was Ile Aux Cerfs excursion, where we used White Sand Tours, which was available at the InterContinental.
In Cape Town, however, all our tours were done through Rhino Tours (http://www.rhinoafrica.co.za/). I thought they were excellent! Very professional, informative and friendly. If you’re ever headed to Cape Town or South Africa, consider this tour company!
While tour companies are a good way to explore (emphasis on organized) and sometimes necessary, I find discovering on your own, equally exciting. Speaking of which, I need to learn how to drive manual!

@enviroian- Sorry I took a while.
Diet has definitely changed. You’ll hear this everywhere, so I won’t talk too much about it, but I eat small portions and often. I’m forcing myself to like vegetables I haven’t in the past. I also drink a lot and I mean a lot of water. In fact, I hardly drink anything else. Also, about 2 hours of exercise per day (both cardio and lifting) for 3-5 times per week. It does pay off. Not to brag but I’ve gone down from 230 lb’s (size 42 for me) in March 2009 to 187 lb’s (size 36) as of last week. So I guess my method is working and now I’m focusing on building muscle.
What a very refreshing question. Normally it’s travel, which don’t get me wrong, I love, but it’s nice to post about something else from time to time.
