Race to Preferred status faster than ever
Get ready for the fastest, easiest way ever to get (or keep) Preferred status. All you have to do is fly between October 1 and December 25, 2009 on any US Airways or US Airways Express flight, and you can earn Preferred status for 2010 when you fly just 7,500 miles by the end of the year. Think of it as an end-of-the-year shortcut.Already earned Preferred status for 2010? You can stretch to the next level.
We’ll determine and award your Preferred status on January 10, 2010. You don’t need to register (we’ll keep track of your flights). We told you it was easy!
It goes on to offer a link with more details. A rush of excitement came- Chairman’s Preferred after 30,000 miles flown. You cannot be serious, I thought. Can you take a guess how well I slept after that email? I didn’t! From 3AM to 7AM I covered the entire continent for decent routings to the maximize miles for the lowest price.
I’m currently booked on part one of Kinglobjaw’s crazy run for Chairman’s Preferred. Does Chicago to Tampa, via Vegas, Phoenix, Albuquerque, Phoenix again, Philadelphia and back for $335 sound like fun to you?
An interesting way of getting to Tampa
Here’s some other key information about this unique promotion:
- Targeted, meaning you had to receive an invite from US Airways. You can’t just register for it or join Dividend Miles to be eligible.
- Fly between October 1, 2009 and December 25, 2009 on US Airways, US Airways Shuttle and US Airways Express only
- Class of service bonus or other bonus mile offers don’t count towards this promotion
- If you can’t cover 30,000 miles, fly 22,500 for Platinum, 15,000 for Gold or 7,500 for Silver
- New Preferred status level awarded in the second week of January 2010
Have a nice clicK life,

Not sure this is targeted which makes it worse. It seems all elites received a specific email, but my sons and wife who are non elites received the monthly email with mileage balance and it was prominently displayed at the top. So anybody can get this with the required mileage.
@PWMFlyer19- I would only go by the actual “Race to Preferred Status” email since the entire content of the email is specifically addressed to the customer. While the E-Statement is also addressed to the customer, the offers are really anonymous. Besides, they are still trying to sell Trial Preferred (http://www.usairways.com/awa/content/dividendmiles/promotions/trialpreferred.aspx?c=us_hp_00199), which is the same exact program, so they couldn’t make it available to the entire program membership. Last but not least, you won’t be able to access the offer from the public usairways.com homepage.

Could you post some more details about this route and which dates did you get this for ? I tried to find it using ITA but wasnt able to get the fare/routing.
Thanks!

It’s actually two fares. ORD-LAS-PHX-ABQ-PHX-LAS-ORD roundtrip and a 2nd roundtrip ABQ-PHX-PHL-TPA-PHL-PHX-ABQ. Find it on Matrix2. ORD-ABQ you force a 3 night layover, while ABQ-TPA is a 1 night layover. So in the end, you spend nights #1 & 3 in ABQ and night #2 in TPA.
ORD-ABQ r/t was $140 and ABQ-TPA was $206. They had an ORD-PHX-ABQ for $10 less, but I wanted the extra LAS-PHX 500 mile hop. I know fares are chaging on some dates as I was pricing more dates yesterday for friends and saw the ABQ-TPA goup to $225.
There’s also a neat deal from FLL to SFO via PHL for $190 r/t and you can do same day return, so no hotel in SFO.
I also found a PVD-PHX-MSP same day for $187.
Hope that helps.
