Right now, US Airways is offering bonus Dividend Miles for those who make a donation to RIF (Reading is Fun). I think it’s admirable that US Airways has partnered with such a notable organization to promote the love & respect for books to younger passengers!
For details on donating & bonus miles you can visit this web page. You can earn up to 5,000 DM miles with a $250 donation.

If you’re Polish you probably know the story about two brothers- Pawel and Gawel (Paul & Gaul?). I believe they were also twins. They lived in a two-story house, one lived on the second floor, the other on the first. They never interfered with each other’s lives aside from the shared appliances/ common areas. I don’t remember which brother did what, but the gist of it is that one brother was a tidy and proper as can be, while the other created one heck of a ruckus- all the time! Living with the downstairs brother was like a personal hell.
I will be making a point in just a moment, so wait for it!
If you rent cars frequently you probably know or at least heard of two car rental companies that work side by side- National and Alamo. They are usually co-located, one on the left and other on the right. Although both companies are not available at all locations, when they are together they usually share counter space, a shuttle bus, a parking lot and sometimes even cars! In this case I can recall which company did what, but the gist of it is that Alamo posted miles to my Mom’s Northwest WorldPerks account within 24 hours (Yep, I counted, alright!). When it comes to National- it’s been 6 days already and the miles have still not posted! Why not, I don’t get it! Normally it would be trivial since it’s only 50 Northwest miles but we’re doing this as part of the Northwest Pile On The Miles promotion, where four partner transactions earn you an additional 4,000 Northwest miles. And since NWA’s list of partne’s included in the promotion is unsatisfying, there are exactly and only four we can manage to do. Thus, these really need to post!

Just a few minutes ago, United’s Twitter account informed us all that United has 10,00o+ followers. If you were following closesly, United promised a surprise for those who register on United.com and follow Twitter. We finally know what the surprise is- bonus miles! Visit United’s Twitter page to see for yourself.
How many miles? I’m guessing, no more than a 1,000. Although ’10′ could be key so maybe 10 miles or 10,000? Or could it be tied in with an activity requirement? I’ll report back as soon as I get the miles and confirm with others if they got the same amount.

This is an update to the post on getting 10K Northwest miles the cheapest way.
Merchant #6 is FootLocker. You can search for keyword “sport bands” or look at item directly here.
The cost is $0.99+ tax and shipping is free. While checking out, they will inform you that shipping is $4.99, but select “Standard” and on the final page (before confirmation/purchase) you will see that the shipping becomes $0.00.
So that’s 6 merchants, 4 to go and I’ve confirmed with NWA that all 6 are pending and will post since I’m not returning anything.
How to make this US Airways related? Following the completion of the NWA promotion and Delta promotion I will dedicate an entire post to comparing online shopping malls for major US carriers and Marriott.

This will only take a click! All you have to do is enter your Continental OnePass member number on this form. Takes 4-6 weeks to post to miles however, but it’s free and worth it. Even if you’ve never an OnePass account, it’s still worth it!

NWA has an enticing promotion where you can get up to 10,000 bonus WorldPerks miles after just 10 purchases. There are quite a few partners out there, but I’m trying to figure out how I can make these 10 purchases spending the smallest amount of money and trying to buy things I can actually use.
So far I’m 50% done. What’s neat is I can earn 1,000 miles after each purchase, not 10,000 after 10 purchases. So in the end, if I can’t utilize partners to buy 10 times, I’ll still get some bonus miles.
- Barnes & Noble $10 gift card (+ $0.95 for shipping). Miles earned: 30 base + 1,000 bonus.
- Borders $5 gift card (+ $1.95 for shipping). Miles earned: 15 + 1,000 bonus.
- Gaiam $1 tree donation certificate (no tax/free shipping). Miles earned: 6 + 1,000 bonus. (link of this item here)
- NorthernTool saw/blade ($1.99 no tax/free shipping). Miles earned: 6 + 1,000 bonus. (link for this item here)
- Sears $5 (free shipping). Miles earned: 10 + 1,000 bonus.
All this adds up to 5,067 extra miles added to my NWA/DELTA account. Of course, the NWA Mall probably takes the longest of all the airline malls. I won’t see those miles till July or August. Ironically, Delta’s mall posts miles the fastest (generally 5 to 6 days after transaction).
I buy magazines regularly at Borders/Barnes & Noble, so I’m really only spending extra on the shipping which would costs less than if I were to drive or take the bus. With Gaiam, I’m doing a good thing for the planet- I’m donating a tree. Sears has a lot of things like extra nozzles for my Dyson vacuum, so I’m sure I’ll end up using it soon. I’ll put good use of the blade from NorthernTool, I’ll no longer struggle with scissors when cutting boxes! What’s funny is that the blade is backordered. Many FlyerTalkers are probably onto this promotion and that’s the cheapest you can go at NorthernTool.

Just got off the phone with an US Airways Club agent to renew my annual membership. Since I wasn’t flying in March or early April of this year, I waited until today to renew. My membership is now valid through April 16, 2010. Same price as last year, $315 + no tax for basic Club membership. Was a pretty long hold until I got an agent (usually they pick up right away- very convenient 1-800-828-8522 with no menu tree, an agent picks up), so maybe a flurry of new members with the two added renewal promotions (either 2 months extra for free or 1,500 preferred qualifying miles, I chose the latter). Both promotions expire July 1, 2009. RNW15 is the code you use for 1,500 preferred qualifying miles which I blogged about a few weeks ago.
As usual, I asked them to email me a receipt and a printout of my membership just incase they want to card me (by card I mean, Club card, not driver’s license/ID). That actually happened to me once in a US Airways Club in PHX. Luckily I had the printout. Was promised card would arrive within 3-4 weeks.
While I connect in PHX next week, I will try out the re-opened lower ‘A’ gates Club (above A7/A9) which was severly damaged during a thunderstorm back in August 2008. Apparently they have brand new furniture in the Club. Anyway, here’s evidence of the damage. When I spoke to the Club agent a few days after the incident, I was told someone could have been seriously injured. Apparently, just seconds before the impact, a snob had to be repeatedly told to move to a different seating area away from the windows. After multiple pleadings, the agent yelled “Move away from the windows, NOW!” to which the passenger finally obliged. Literally seconds later, a big blow came in from outside and the result was this:

Back in late February, I mentioned that RewardTV offers free AA, Delta and Northwest miles during certain “Shopping Sprees”. On March 4, 2009, I was able to make it in front of my computer at the specified time and I “bought” the 1,000 miles using my RewardTV points. It takes up to 8 weeks (though sometimes no more than 4) to get the reward in the mail and I just received my reward today!
You basically get a paper certificate with a personal code which you input on http://www.depositAAmiles.com. The neat thing is you have over 6 months to request the miles so if you don’t do a lot of activity, you can wait it out and claim the miles right before the certificate expires to further extend your mileage expiration date! Although certificate rules require you to be the one who claim the miles, you can deposit them for anyone since the certificate doesn’t specify a name, email, account # or any personal information. An educated guess- I believe the same is true with the Delta and Northwest mileage certificates. Here are some pictures of the certificate’s front and back side. (Notice the RewardTV sticker proving that you can get free miles from RewardTV)
The mileage offers on RewardTV are by far the best free prizes. Since all the other shopping sprees offer $5 or $10 gift cards to great stores nonetheless, 1,000 miles at either American Airlines, Delta or Northwest is a much better choice!

Front of the certificate

Back of the certificate- all the terms and conditions are listed
Thanks RewardTV. Keep ‘em coming! I promise to announce all RewardTV shoping sprees that give away miles on this blog, so stay tuned. Would be nice if they also did hotel points.

Here’s a free and easy way to get 500 free Delta SkyMiles. Answer a personality quiz. Many people are reporting that when they enter their SkyMiles # they get a message saying, “We are sorry, the SkyMiles # you entered is not eligible for this offer“. Some people on FlyerTalk however are saying to not give up and keep coming back and eventually the system will accept your frequent flyer number and you will get a chance to participate and get your share of 500 free miles.
You can try any of these two URLs to access the home page of the personality quiz; try http://www.delta.com/marketing/personality/ or http://personality.delta.com. Good luck!

So now instead of getting 500 EQMs I will be getting 1,500! I didn’t renew in March since my next trip is in late April, so I’ll renew in a few days online to take advantage of the improved offer. Besides, why waste a month of membership if I wasn’t going to use in it March anyway! If anyone else is considering renewing, feel free to use the special promo code- RNW15. I’m sure it isn’t just for Kinglobjaw! If you’re thinking of joining Club for the very first time in your life, 3,000 EQMs for new members is still available until April 30, 2009. More on this here.
