Delta’s 4X a day Philly to Boston service ends on August 18, 2009 and personally I believe it was inevitable from the get go! Funny thing is, even AirTran held onto the route for a longer period of time than “Premier Global Airline”. Haha- I just had to say that!

With AirFrance soon putting the “cork on the wine bottle” on the Philly to Paris route, Delta takes over with a 757. I don’t see that lasting either…

About time Delta rolls back to their domestic ops and moves back to the domestic terminal at Philly. Enough trying to “Premier Global Airline” in Philly, Delta! Philly already has US Airways.

Have a nice clicK life,

As of right now, US Airways flight US726 has just under two hours left until it arrives in Birmingham. Water salute on arrival? Maybe!

Anyway, the flight which is a seasonal service operated by an ETOPS 757 seems to have to gone out with two empty Envoy seats and a rather light load in coach.

The flight is operated five times per week (doesn’t operate outbound on Mondays and Wednesday, thus no returns on Tuesdays & Thursdays). We all know what the means, right? It means tonight’s crew gets an extra night in Birmingham!

Personally, Birmingham, UK sounds interesting as it might be getting some heavy “action” in the upcoming months with an A380 service planned to/from the Middle East and a Greek airline possibly starting 747 service into the airport. When it comes to North American nonstop services, the only other airline- Continental, flies year round from Newark.

Hope US does well on the route.

Have a nice clicK life,

Since I’ve been posting about the Club nonstop for the past few days, I decided to make an About Me type of post. Visited/favorite US Airways Clubs.

Visited US Airways Clubs

London Gatwick (no longer open)

Boston

New York- LGA

Tampa

Charlotte (Visited 2 of 2)

Philadelphia (Visited 2 of 2 + Envoy Lounge)

Pittsburgh

Phoenix (Visited 3 of 3)

Las Vegas

Los Angeles

The next two I’m most likely to visit this year? DCA and RDU. I want to seem them all, but I’m worried GSO and BUF and BDL might get shut down.

My favorite?

PHL Envoy Lounge is by far the best lounge, but when it comes to regular Clubs, I like TPA (great views) and LAX (generous offerings) the most. The PHX Clubs are pretty nice too.

My least favorite?

The A21 PHX Club, because it’s so tiny and the the concourse B Club in CLT, because it’s also pretty small and service offerings were non-existant both times I was there. Now, even if I’m connecting between two flights in concourse B, I still walk over to the C/D club in CLT. It’s a bit of a schlep, but it’s completely worth it.

An interesting tidbit- of all the questions and emails I get, Club is the most often asked about question (which one to use, worth the entrance fee, can I enter if I’m flying domestic F?)

Want to check out the Clubs through the lens of my camera? Head on over to the Gallery part of Kinglobjaw.com.

Have a nice clicK life,

This is just in. I might be going to HAJ for 3 nights towards the end of March 2009 to see some friends. I’m brining along a friend, so the routing should be fairly simple. Hopefully after this trip, she’ll be more keen to fly crazy Kinglobjaw style routings.

This is what I’m looking at. ORD-PHL-FRA-HAJ and back on US to FRA and LH to HAJ. Of course, I was able to price other routings for the same base fare price, such as ORD-CLT-PHL-FRA-HAJ-LHR-PHL-BWI-ORD on US/LH/BD/UA. There’s also the option of flying via a triple connection on LH/US only: HAJ-FRA-PHL-CLT-ORD. I haven’t ticketed yet, so we’ll see what happens. Maybe I can convince her to earn more miles. She’s a statusless frequent flyer with United so at least she will earn miles. Maybe that will convince her to satisfy my need for jet lag, more flights and more miles! =]

I didn’t share the fare price yet. It’s not mileage run material, but nonetheless a decent deal- $489.60 roundtrip including all taxes & fees. US Airways was by far the lowest fare, followed by SAS which was roughly $200 dollars more roundtrip.

Interesting thing about the flights is that thie FRA-HAJ-FAR short hop is operated with a Lufthansa A320. Just 175 miles. Neat! I wonder if they offer a service on the flight. Probably do, they’re Lufty!

Have a nice clicK life,

My Club membership just expired at midnight, and since I”m not flying for another 3 weeks I’m going to wait until just before my flights to re-new as that will push back my Club membership expiration date in 2010, so I will definitely want to get my 500 Preferred Qualifying Miles! The promotions rules at the bottom of the page show that the offer expires on March 31, 2009, but what if they replace the old website with the new version before they the promotion expires. Will they remember to update it on the new site…? That’s why I advise those who wish to act on this offer, but want to wait a few more weeks to print this ASAP, as proof, of course!

Have a nice clicK life,

One my Mom’s friends turned to the King for help with booking a trip for her Mom. Her Mom is supposed to fly from WRO-ORD in June, stay for the summer and return back in September. Right off the bat, my options were limited, because my Mom’s friend said to only take LOT under consideration with a single connection in WAW. I guess it’s understandeable given that her Mom doesn’t really speak english and she has connected in WAW for many years. For an elderly lady travelling alone, it’s best to keep it as simple and as familiar as possible. Sure, LOT isn’t the cheapest and if I were the one flying, I would doing something more creative, and cheaper at the same time like an LH/SK combo, or LH via FRA to DUB, then US to ORD via PHL and CLT. Let’s back on topic however as I am not flying this time!

Here’s the part I’ve been meaning to talk about. My Mom’s friend is about 50 years old, so she’s not that old, but has this silly infantile notion that schedules never change. Let’s take flight LO3852 from WRO-WAW departing at 9AM. In the past, the flight would leave at 9:10AM, or so she claims. She can’t seem to understand that some flights get pulled or have schedule changes. She goes “No, No, there is no flight at 9:00AM, it leaves at 9:10AM!”. I am a perfectionist, so yes 10 minutes does make a difference, but in this case there is no flight at 9:10AM anymore. It now leaves at 9:00AM. Period.

Same, odd situation on the return. We were talking about LO4 which leaves ORD at 9:55PM and flies nonstop to WAW. ImmediatelyI heard her say, “9:50PM”. I let it slide, and later on when she was reading back the flights, she said “leaving Chicago at 9:50PM”. Back and forth we go. In the end I forced it in her hed. LO4 now leaves at 9:55PM. Good, the King is done here- put the flight on hold and will ticket tommorow over the phone or maybe on Orbitz.

I understand this post is more like a rant, but I’m curious to see if other people’s parents or older family/friends do that sort of thing? Maybe it’s a generational thing!

Have a nice clicK life,

If you are not a RewardTV member, now is the time to join. Free of charge, of course! You get tons of valuable points for just watching your favorite TV shows, even if you don’t really watch them at all. You end up earning lots of points since you earn them in bunches of thousands. What can you do with your points? You spend them on shopping sprees. There are two each week and they announce the guaranteed prizes ahead of time. This is no silly sweepstakes.

An upcoming shopping spree on Wednesday, March 4, 2009 at 2:30PM Eastern Time is offering 1,000 AADVANTAGE miles for 300,000 RewardTV points (if you sign up for today, you can still earn in time- yes, you really earn them that fast). RewardTV very rarely offers miles as a reward, as it’s usually a gift card to places like BestBuy, Staples or Amazon.com (my favorites).

Besides American Airlines they partner with other airlines, but those miles are offered even more scarcely than the AA miles. Here are the airlines:

Delta

Northwest

They also partner with Marriott, but since I’ve never seen them offer it, I have no clue whether it’s a $10 Marriott gift card or Marriott Rewards points.
