Have you checked out my new bonus miles/promotions section on Kinglobjaw.com? It’s all bits and pieces of a bigger project I’ve been working, hopefully which you will all see by the end of the year.
On to the newest promo which is also listed at the promos section. 2,500 bonus miles to winter cities, and 5% off. With the mileage running going around, if there’s a decent fare to Salt Lake City or Denver, you can make it 5% sweeter (think cheaper) with promo code MC5. Plus, you get a 2,500 bonus redeemable miles. Of course, you do need the US MasterCard.

Just got a letter from US Airways MasterCard informing me that my card has been upgraded to Dividend Miles Select benefits. This is really nothing more than a snazzy way to tell me that I have two new benefits associated with my card. Benefits that make this great card a truly awesome and one of a kind airline miles card. Very similar to what Continental does with one of their credit cards by waiving bag fees for card holders. No bag fees waived here, which I don’t really care about since I already hold Preferred status, thus all my bags fly free. Here’s what I can look forward to:
- A 5,000 mileage discount on all award tickets booked. This would indicate that a Domestic Saver coach award round-trip would cost 20,000 miles instead of 25,000
- Award processing fee waiver which equals to $ savings
I don’t feel like going over the full rules and restrictions, but I’ve attached a detailed scan of the brochure. It’s large and clear enough so you can read through all the rules here (2.2MB size).
Here’s a smaller version of the front and the back of the brochure,

Unfortunately, there isn’t a promo code one can mention when calling US Airways, so it’ll take some time for an agent to locate information for the new benefits. Involving a supervisor would be the best procedure, for now at least. A supervisor was able to assist and pull up information quickly, while a basic agent told me he never heard of this before, which is understandable given the benefits haven’t even started.
My Mom also carries this card, but hasn’t received this letter yet. I’m wondering if I should call Barclays bank to find out whether she is also a DM Select card holder.

US Airways Chairman’s, Platinum, Gold and Silver members now earn a preferred mileage bonus on all Lufthansa flights.
A 5,806 miles one way L.A. to Frankfurt nonstop will earn a different bonus for each tier:
- Chairman’s (100% bonus) – an additional 5,806 miles per direction
- Platinum (75% bonus)- an additional 4,355 miles per direction
- Gold (50% bonus)- an additional 2,903 miles per direction
- Silver (25% bonus)- an additional 1,452 miles per direction
Keep in mind, these bonus miles don’t count towards Preferred status requalification. They are only redeemable miles for future award redemptions.
I always thought Lufthansa flights should be part of the Preferred bonus. Aside from United, Lufthansa is the second closest partner US Airways has! For a while, the bonus was also offered on all ANA, but I have no clue as to how ANA was picked by US Airways. That said, ANA no longer participates in the preferred bonus. Neither does Hawaiian Airlines.

Right now, US Airways is offering bonus Dividend Miles for those who make a donation to RIF (Reading is Fun). I think it’s admirable that US Airways has partnered with such a notable organization to promote the love & respect for books to younger passengers!
For details on donating & bonus miles you can visit this web page. You can earn up to 5,000 DM miles with a $250 donation.

Folks an update.
The flights are now loaded in the system for booking purposes. You can book via www2.usairways.com (The new USAirways.com Beta)
Beginning May 27, 2009, the flights will also display “J” and “X”/”I” inventory for upgrades and award bookings respectively.
For mileage/Chairman’s coupons type upgrades minimum fare requirement is $1400 round trip including all taxes and fees for the entire trip. If you choose to use miles, upgrade will cost 30,000 DM miles in each direction. The upgrade clears you on all US Airways operated flights with a First Class cabin from points of origin to the final destination.

Two hours ago, I mentioned that I renewed my US Airways Club membership and took advantage of a lucrative offer of 1,500 preferred qualifying miles. Just wanted to let you know I got my receipt and shortly after that my 1,500 preferred miles posted to my Dividend Miles account.
Very fast! It seems to me that every day something is improved in US Airways’ systems. Shopping Mall purchases post quicker than last year, car rentals post in days rather than weeks. A big thumbs up to US Airways!

I would like to point out three new US Airways Dividend Miles bonus promotions that have been announced today in addition to extended Double EQMs until April 30, 2009.
- 10% off or 1,000 bonus miles on flights to Latin America when you pay with any MasterCard credit card. Details here.
- Spring Ahead- the more you buy and fly, the more points you can earn. Up to 25,000 bonus miles if you buy 10 roundtrip titckets. Details here.
- 25% free bonus on Buy Miles transactions (buy a maximum of 50,000 miles and get 12,500 miles as a bonus). Details here.
Nice set of promotions and kudos to US Airways for being very generous with promotions in 2009, but airline promotions will most likely never be as generous as in the past! 10 roundtrips is a lot of tickets bought considering you have to buy and fly all of it between April 8, 2009 and June 30, 2009. That’s less than two months! To be fair, if you’re flying less but stil flying nonetheless, 5 roundtrips will get you to the first level of the promotion for a bonus of 5,000 miles.

US Airways extends double EQM period until the end of April 2009. Kinglobjaw’s prediction was right!
It was just two days ago when I was speculating if US Airways would extend it’s double EQM promotion. They did! That means my Hawaii trip now will possibly count for double elite qualifying miles! Even though it was booked in February, I’ve heard from quite a few people including my father, that itineraries booked before the promotion still got double the EQMs! I’m hopeful.
With my US flights taking me ORD-PHX-KOA; LIH-PHX-PHL-ORD, instead of getting 10,032 EQMs, I would get 20,064! Very hopeful! If only US would remove the silly “must ticket after registering for promotion” clause a la United doing so yesterday, I would be thrilled! Still, very nice of US to offer this extremely generous promo and extending it. Props for US Airways!

Just as US’ double elite qualifying miles promotion is about to come to a close, other airlines are announcing their own versions of double eqms for Summer 2009.
Last year it was all about AA patching things up after their MD 80 fleet mishap, but this year it’s about getting more people on board planes. US is to be commended for leading the big six (soon to be five) into double eqms promotion which everyone matching, though Delta being the most restrictive.
But, I do wonder: could it end up hurting US Airways during the busy Summer travel season? Will they extend their promotion to last past March 31, 2009 to match the other airlines during the summer. Maybe! Probably not, though. Nice promotion given that US Airways rarely does flying related promotions. I am seeing however that for their new transatlantic routes such as TLV and OSL, they are offering 5,000 bonus miles for Envoy bookings, and 2,500 for certain Economy fares.
One final thought. These 2X EQM promotions have one pesky rule requiring that tickets be booked after the promotion commences, thus previous booking are immedaitely disqualified. Tricky, tricky!\

Because I fly only with US Airways, does it mean I only carry a Dividend Miles account? Of course not, and folks should learn to do the same.
You have to be on the lookout for various partner promos from the other airlines. Sometimes they’ll let you earn miles so easily and quickly and you’d be crazy not to. And I’m not talking about flying here! Take a look at a section of an email from Northwest that I got this morning.
Dear Mark,
Never shopped WorldPerks Mall before? Now’s a perfect time to try!
Savvy WorldPerks members know they can earn miles every day by shopping WorldPerks Mall. Now, you’re in the know! Plus, through March 31, 2009, make a purchase on WorldPerks Mall from Ann Taylor®, Lands’End®, homedepot.com, or more than 200 other favorite online stores, and you’ll earn 1,000 Bonus Miles in addition to the miles you always earn. Shopping the Mall is easy, fun and habit-forming. You’ll see.Register today for this one-time offer.
1,000 miles for one (any) purchase. That’s great! The cheapest way to nail this is to buy an iTune for 0.99 cents. That will earn you 2 miles + 1,000 bonus miles. Full details on the promotion can be found here.
Some may ask if keeping a 1,000 miles is good for anything if you’re not going to fly with that airline?
Well, for starters, that 1,000 miles would normally cost you $50 + tax if bought directly from that airline. Also, you can be sure there will be other promos in the future to get you to try new products or the airline credit card will carry a no free promotion where you can score a huge 20,000+ mile welcome bonus. If you earn E-Rewards you can usually transfer to your frequent flyer account to get more miles. Last but not least, you can try redeeming those miles for a magazine delivered to your home free of charge. Subscriptions for certain magazines start from only 600 miles in cost.
I’ve been doing this with a couple of frequent flyer programs just to score enough miles that I will keep as emergency miles. I already have 50,000 miles with United and will have about 35,000 miles with the merged Delta frequent flyer program. I”m also going for American Airlines since I already have about 8,000 miles in my AAdvantage account. I’m also thinking of signing up for the BMI program since they have low redemptions levels for UK and Channel flights. All these are not from flying, but from partner promotions and no annual fee credit card offers from the airlines.
